Considered as a real “treasure room”, our cellar in Pontanevaux contains around 30 000 bottles of old vintages from numerous decades. It is a unic oenotheque in Beaujolais and Southern Burgundy from which a little part is put to your disposition through our “private collection” wines.
This reserve cuvee will surprise you with its extreme roundness and its olfactory richness. She is worthy of a great of a great Burgundy and promise of a longevity of more than 10 years.
The most prestigious of the Mâconnais wines, the Pouilly-Fuissé vineyards spreads over the clay-limestone hills bordering the Saône Valley (dating from the Jurassic Era). It is dominated by the two rocky outcrops of Solutré and Vergisson. The legend tells that the prehistoric men living there, used to hunt wild horses by hurling them over the edge.
Winemaking and ageing in new oak barrels with lee stirring.
This Moulin-à-Vent offers various aromas which will evolve with age towards roasted coffee, liquorice, kirsch and candied fruits aromas.
Nestled against the foot of the windmill and exposed east-southeast on a wonderful mineral-rich
granitic soil, on the “climat” of Champ de Cour.
Selection of the best plots, grapes are then sorted and carefully destemmed. Fermentation between
25 and 35 days. The wine is aged in barrels on fine lees for 8 to 9 months.
The wines of Le Clos des Billards are well structured and full of character with a bouquet of spices, peaches and blueberries.
Located mid-slope on the southeastern side of the vineyard of Saint Amour at the place called “Les
Billards”. Piedmont soils and old alluvium, very clayey, hydromorphic with some zones on deep
and altered granite.
The traditional vinification period lasts over 20 days and the use of a weighted grill (called
“griddind”) keeps the “crust” submerged in the fermenting juice to better extract the tannins.
This climat of Fleurie has an intense amaranthine colour with garnet reflections. The nose offers a perfect alchemy between floral light notes of Peony and intense aromas of red berries. The mouth
reveals small notes of raspberry and silky tannins brings a beautiful potential of guard.
Vines are planted on the granite soils (from 50cm to 1 meter depth) and granite arenas of “La Madone” lieu-dit.
Grapes, handpicked, are minutely sorted out. To extract more body, colour and tannins, the
vinification lasts about 20 days in vats covered by a “chapeau grillé” (special grating cover).
The “La Roche” climat lives up to its name with its granite subsoil. This cellar reserve is produced using only exceptional vintages. The wine has a rich structure with elegant tannins and a very good length in the mouth.
Brown, sandy soil over pink granite, low in organic matter.
Manual harvesting with partial destemming. Aged in French oak barrels.
Half a hectare of “Le Clos” is located within the Château grounds. This cellar reserve is produced using only exceptional vintages. The wine is well-structured with concentrated tannins.
