Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru “Au Vignerais”

In 2020, 22 of the 217 plots of Pouilly-Fuissé in the famous Roche de Solutré area received the “Premier Cru” label. Among the selection criteria: the historical presence of vines on these plots, their recognition in tasting guides and the natural characteristics such as altitude, slope and the nature of the soil.

“Au Vignerais” is in the village of Solutré-Pouilly, on the southern slope of Roche de Solutré at around 300m altitude. The soil is clay and limestone, pebbly and shallow.

The wine, still maturing until this summer, is aged on fine lees during 12 months in new barrels (around 40%) made from wood from the canton of “Saint Herem” in France, and the other part is aged in stainless steel vats.
