Le Point puts our Saint-Amour in the spotlight with a beautiful 17/20 grade !

On this Valentine’s Day, Jacques Dupont, reporter specialized in wines for “Le Point”, took a closer look to the Saint-Amour AOC.

After a tasting of the different wines from the AOC, Mr.Dupont presented his selection of Saint-Amour wines where a very good surprise awaited Maison Jean Loron with an amazing grade of 17/20 for its Saint Amour Domaine Des Billards. Here ar his comments: “A nose of jarred cherries, elegant, rosemary, cherry clafoutis, silky”. Maison Jean Loron and the people working there day after day are very proud of this reward and will keep working in order to make its wines conquer new summits.

A focus on the Saint-Amour AOC and the Domaine des Billards…

Located in Saône-et-Loire, Saint-Amour is a town with very hetergeneous soils giving wines with multiple faces. It is a geological puzzle composed of blue stones, clays, sandstones and sand… A beautiful diversity wich can be found in the bottles !

The domaine des Billards is located in the locality “Les Billards” which is clearly delimited and where the alchimy of the soils, the vines and men transformed it after many centuries in a unic parcel with a rich cultural heritage. Situated halfway down the slope of the Saint-Amour vineyards with a South-East exposition to the sun, we can here find foothill soils, ancient alluviums, a lot of clay and some very profund zones of granit. It is a soil that gives wines with a round and smooth attack with a generous structure that persists with a gourmet final…
