From Church to cellar : Auvigue, a heritage reinvented !
Maison Auvigue, renowned for its great Pouilly-Fuissé wines, has carried out a bold transformation of the former Saint-Germain church in Fuissé. Desecrated in 1872 and acquired in 2018, this Cluniac-influenced church, despite its advanced state of disrepair at the time, has revealed its incredible potential. Over a two-year period, more than ten different trades worked to transform this historic building into a wine storehouse, cellar and shop, while preserving its architectural soul.
Nestling at the foot of the Roche de Solutré and surrounded by vineyards, this renovated church is a veritable showcase for the estate’s white wines. Sylvain Brenas, director and great-grandson of the founder, knows every plot on the estate, while Céline Hirsch, cellar master, offers tastings of Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Villages, highlighting their freshness and minerality.
Discover this unusual place in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, emblematic of the Mâcon region of Maison Jean Loron.
