Rémi Vincent, Vineyard Manager at Maison Jean Loron, and the domain winemakers worked together to locate and define exceptional “lieux-dits”. Soil studies and experience in the vines and the cellar helped identify 4 micro-plots with strong characteristics passed-on to the wine. Below the Mont Genas (which culminates at 388 m of altitude) halfway up the slopes, at 350-360 m altitude. Protected from the prevailing winds to the West by the Madonna and to the North by
Mont Genas. This is an elegant and fruity wine with intense aromas of raspberry and strawberry.
Sandy soil, based on a saprolite and a pink granite with large crystals.
Manual harvesting. Vinification in grilled vats, with 80% de-stemming. Vatting time of 15 to 18 days with gentle pumping over. Aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for 9 months.
This micro plot of Fleurie is known as a remarkable lieu-dit, with a strong personality due to its location. La Madone gives small notes of raspberry and silky tannins that give it a good ageing potential.
The 1,2 ha of vineyards belonging to the “Madone” climate, one of the most renowned Fleurie vintage, is planted on pink salmon granitic soils, which are very poor soils with low yield.
60% whole cluster. 15 to 20 day maceration under “grilled hat” for better tannin extraction. 8 to 9 months ageing in vats and wooden tuns.
This micro plot is known as a remarkable lieu-dit, it offers every year generous structure with lingering soft tannins.
The 1.50 ha clos at the entrance of the village of Juliénas, Le Clos des Poulettes, benefits from the favourable effects of Blue Stone, a very resilient soil. Slight slope, south-east exposure.
A 3 week long maceration process and ageing on fine lees in stainless steel vats make it a complex wine with a great ageing potential.
Jean Loron began working these parcels, nestled at the foot of the windmill, at the beginning of the 18th century. This Moulin-à-Vent Champ de Cour offers a wide variety of fragrances developing aromas of roast, licorice, kirsch and candied fruits as it ages.
Granite terroir, rich in minerals, in climat “Champ de Cour”. Vines nestled at the foot of the windmill with due south exposure.
The best parcels are selected and the grapes are delicately destemmed. Fermentation for 25 to 35 days. Ageing in barrels on fine lees for 8 to 9 months.
“Au Vignerais” is in the village of Solutré-Pouilly, on the southern slope of Roche de Solutré at around 300m altitude. The soil is clay and limestone, pebbly and shallow.
The wine, still maturing until this summer, is aged on fine lees during 12 months in new barrels (around 40%) made from wood from the canton of “Saint Herem” in France, and the other part is aged in stainless steel vats.
The Bonnège plot shows great resilience every year. The wine brilliantly oscillates between power, freshness and elegance.
Piémont soil originating from the metamorphic rock of Mont Brouilly formed 400 million years ago and called Blue Stone in the area.
Manual harvest, partial destemming followed by maceration for 15 days. Ageing on fine lees in stainless steel vats.
